I now know who bought the land from William Cowle in 1873 and who funded the development of these two terraces (and probably Upper and Lower Lyppiatt too, further down the hill). The whole hillside of The Field Estate (from Bisley Old Rd south side down to London Road) is now the subject of a research project, by Marion Hearfield and Tony Macer, for the Museum in the Park. In Nov 2011 we are starting our third year of research and already have a collection of title deeds and census details. Please get in touch via Chas or the Museum.
