Stood for election to the UDC in 1928

23 March 1928 Stroud Journal published a pen portrait and photo of all 27 candidates

Mr Frederick William King of 'Northfield' Uplands has been a member of the Stroud Council for nine years and is standing as an independent candidate. During the war he served as a Lieutenant in the Gloucesters and was badly wounded. He is president of the Stroud branch of the British Legion. He has occupied the position of chairman of the Council and has also presided over several of the standing committees. He has secured election toh te Stroud Board of Guardians as the representative of Uplands.

He was elected 4 out of the 18 councillors elected with 1250 votes.
