Advert for sale of Caincross House in Times 22 April 1939 of auction sale on 24 April 1939.

Indicates that Thomas Godman - The Stroud Fascist had left the area by that date.

However, in Times June 17 1947 announcement of marriage appears in Times of their daughter Kathleen Anne Mary "only" daughter of Commander and Mrs T Godman of Cainscross House, Stroud to Christopher Basil elder son of the Rev A T Morgan MC and Mrs Morgan of St. Pauls Vicarage Hounslow Heath.

There is another report in the Times of an Appeal Court hearing where Godman had been paid £200 to get a Dr Schacht out of Germany and had intervened with the German Government - reference is made to Hitler's permission being obtained - but was demanding another £500. Again address is Cainscross House. Mar 13 1940.

Times Jul 10 1935 has a report of a Recieving Order having been made against T Godman of 25 Victoria Street SW1 residing at Cainscross House, Stroud Gloucestershire Company Director and business consultant.


Planning Decision of 6 May 1959 to grant consent for conversion of existing house into flats Applicant was a Mr Rogers of 5 Quietways Stonehouse, agents for a following application was Messrs Wheatley, Rogers and and Smith Ltd of The Green Stonehouse.
