In 1928 Trinder stood for election to the Urban District Council

Mr Harry Edmund Trinder of George Street Stroud was elected to the Council 17 years ago. When the laater Mr Buscomb was elected to the Chair Mr. Trinder was appointed vice-chairman and during the former gentleman's illness he acted for him at meetings. Upon his death Mr Trinder was elected to the chair and at the following annual meeting was re-elected for the ensuing year. He has served on all the important committees and has given much time to the service of the town. For six years he was a member of the Board of Guardians but did not seek re-election. He has just completed three years as president of the Stroud Traders Association.
Mr Trinder lost his seat coming 22 out of 27 candidates for 18 seats.
