Mr Nicholas Derrick Rayne of Lansdown House, Lansdown, Stroud is making a first appearance as prospective councillor. He is well known among traders and motorists and of a motor omnibus service which links up various parts of the district with the town. His enterprise in this direction is shown by the fact that shortly he is commencing a daily motor-coach service between Stroud and London. He is contesting this election as an independent candidate.
He was successful in being elected 18 out of the 18 elected.
